The House that Stamps Built - Mono tone challenge

This last week in March over at The House that Stamps Built  our challenge is to make a mono tone card.  I decided to go with all greens - signs of spring -

I used 7202W Tree Flip Set  and I used the square die from  Flip Dies.  I had purchased a full A2 size card die a little while back from a local (35 miles) stamp store and I have enjoyed playing around with it.  I went with an all green palate for my colors - stamping each season of tree in different shades of green.  Die cut them with the round corner doe in flip dies and mounted them on each corner of the die cut, I did pop dot each of the four images.  In the middle I used the sentiment which I love, and stenciled some leaves in the center.  Added a few green splatters some green bling and card done.

Now it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of Get Well So many possibilities on this challenge.  You have a full month to enter our challenge.  You do not have to use Repeat Impressions stamps but if you do  you will have two chances to win a $25 gift certificate towards stamps. using the challenge of  Get Well.

Anything Goes

This week over at The House that Stamps Built it is the 4th Wednesday in the month - and that means Anything Goes.  I choose to do a spring card:

Last year I got kites for the grand kids and they loved them so I thought I would go with a spring theme for my anything goes

I used 4511-I Kite  and for my sentiment I used 1301-F Happy Spring which I cut apart and stacked the words.

I had a very unique and fun cloud stencil which I used to make the clouds in various shades of blue.  The kites were stamped and then paper pieced with the same plaid paper I used in my background.  Plaid is "in" this year and this plaid was from a pad of All Seasons paper.  I left it very simple as I like the layout and the kites really stood out.

The House that Stamps Built Slim Line Challenge

This week over at The House that Stamps Built our challenge is to do a slimline card.  Well I did a "mini" slim line - the folded size is 3 1/2 by 6.

My blending brushes were sitting in my rolling card beside my card sI grabbed a couple and some distress oxide inks.  I used a piece of surgical paper tape (low tack) and went from corner to corner then blended the left side of my card.  I moved the tape to cover what I had blended and I blended the right side of my card in reverse order.  I then used 102-F Dragonfly and 4405-K Dragonfly Deco and stamped in black versafine ink.  I had room at the right top for my sentiment so I used 8617-E Learn.  I had just a very narrow line of white from corner to corner where I had taped off and I used some very narrow glitter washi tape and thought it worked very nicely to finish off the card.

I then decided to make an envelope since I had everything out, so using my envelope punch board I made an envelope and used my blending brushes to color the envelope like the card.  Since I didn't want to put glitter tape on the envelope I used a pretty blue gel ink pen to accent the envelope.

Fun Fold Challenge

This week at The House that Stamps Built our challenge is do do a Fun Fold.  Here is mine.

I'm not sure what this fold is called but I have had so much fun making these cards.  The secret is to use s template triangle that is 3 1/2 x 2 1/4.  I choose to go with a birthday card as I have a great niece that is turning 2 in a couple of weeks so I used 8606-E Happy Birthday  then die cut a variety of balloons to use on the front fold in various bright colors. Now for the surprise open the card up and 1603-K Bouquet Bear  which I colored with copics, fussy cut her out - (I used a plain white cardstock back when I cut her out so the copics wouldn't show through.  I then glued just the bottom half of her on the fun fold so she would pop up when opened.  For the sentiment I used 1918-F Beary Special and place a small balloon over an "oopsie".
I think this might be called an angled corner fold - but anyway it works for not only girl cards, but masculine as well as kids.

Going Green - The House that Stamps Built

This week over at The House that Stmaps Built is the first Wednesday in March and it is my turn to pick the challenge which I chose Going Green.  Anything Green is fine from plants, trees, to St. Patrick's Day.  Here is my card:

and here is the card open:

I had some shamrock design paper in my stash so I paired that with some matching green cardstock and green gingham ribbon.  I used  for the outside 4932-G Lucky Post, 1135-E St. Pats and 5135-D Shamrock Sil. Small.  I don't send out very many St. Pats cards except to my chemo buddies and the grand kids - usually with a little green in the envelope.

POTW Floating Frame

Today is my turn to do Pick of the Week over at The House that Stamps Built. I do a lot of surfing on Pinterest when I can't sleep at night and I have been seeing cards and directions for Floating Frames so thought I would try my hand at making not only one but bonus - you get two cards.

Lets gather some stamps and inks - the "secret" material will be in the next couple of pictures.

Lets get started:  I used a variety of flower stamps from sheet 10300 Flower Power Separate Series which has so many floral options to go with for this card.  I stamped the solid image flowers in various ink colors and then used the solid leaf in green to fill in some empty spots.  I had a couple more  empty places I needed to fill so I used 5123-C  Butterfly Sil. small to made this work out the way I envisioned it.  So now that I have my stamps picked out I stamped and fussy cut each image out (I like to fussy cut so find it relaxing).

I see you saw my Press and Seal in the photo which you also need for this project.  I always have a roll in my kitchen drawer as it truly does what it says presses and seals.

On a piece of 4 x 5 1/4 inch piece of white cardstock I laid out my cut images in what I thought looked eye appealing.  Yes you are supposed to have some pieces off the edges as we are going to trim it up in a couple of steps.  As you can see I used my floral, leaf, and butterfly images.

"Carefully" lay the press and seal over your layout - (there is one side of the press and seal that has a sticky feel to it, that is the side that goes face down on the images.  smooth it out again carefully.  Yes there is going to be left over press and seal on the edges.

Here is where you turn it over and trim your your edges to the cardstock.

At this point gently remove the white cardstock from the back - just leaving your press and seal and images. This is really optional but I had a problem cutting the rectangle out with the white cardstock still on the back.  But if you do remove, the images will stay in place.  Choose a die cut for the center of your card - can be just about any shape from rectangle to circle, I choose rectangle.

In this picture you can see focal images for two cards - I then die cut the bigger frame out again with a rectangle die just leaving a nice frame.

Here is where the "floating" part comes in, apply pop dots or foam tape to the back making sure you have pop dots on most of the images.  Get creative and cut your pop dots in half  to use in the corners.  Remove the pop dot seal on each of the pop dots and then bring your white base cardstock to your prepared image.

Using a sentiment of your choice ( I used 6113-K Life is not) stamping with versafine ink as I wanted  nice crisp image.  I added some bling just because...

Now what to do with the center you cut out, well we stampers waste not so we use it for the focal image of another card.

Again using pop dots on the back apply the pop dots and remove the backing of the dots and apply to another card base.  For this one I choose a yellow dotted note card - thought it was bright and cheery.   For the sentiment I used 1807-F I'm so glad.  I used a pretty little die cut for the sentiment and layered with with black.  Add some bling if you wish (I did).

Try your hand at this technique - here are a couple of hints.  Solid images really do work best.  Make sure your press'n Seal does not have any wrinkles - so smooth it out as you are working with it.  Make sure you use plenty and I do mean plenty of of pop dots on the back as that is what gives the illusion of "floating frame".
