Sketch Challenge

This is the final week of 2020 over at The House that Stamps Built our challenge is a sketch -

I was stumped for a little while until I started looking through some papers that I had forgotten I had.  Saw the fish paper and the idea popped in my head.

I used 2909-H Rainbow Trout and   6704-F Fishing Fly  for my focal images on this card.  My hubby loves to trout fish and he ties his own flies, and somehow he knows what color they are biting on when he goes.  Black and yellow seem to be the favorite.  4034-F Make A Wish.  I really am still not sure if I am going to use this for a birthday card so I left Happy Birthday open.  I colored and fussy cut 3 of the rainbow trout together then used dimensional glaze to make it a bit more realistic.  Popped it up on dimensional as well as the fishing fly.  I am always needing masculine cards so this went in my man cards slot.

Now it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of the sketch. So many possibilities on this challenge.  You have a full month to enter our challenge.  You do not have to use Repeat Impressions stamps but if you do  you will have two chances to win a $25 gift certificate towards stamps.

Anything Goes

Today over at The House that Stamps Built is Anything Goes and I thought this was a good one to post today - lets welcome 2021.

I have the complete sheet Plate 10600 and use this set when I want a fun "snarky" card - I thought it was perfect for our Anything Goes challenge today.  I stamped and fussy cut 4 of the TP rolls and spaced them on a slim design card.  Then used the sentiment Time to Celebrate again fitting for the new year.

Hope you have enjoyed looking at my New Years card - and I have already picked someone to get this card.

Now it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of Anything Goes So many possibilities on this challenge.  You have a full month to enter our challenge.  You do not have to use Repeat Impressions stamps but if you do  you will have two chances to win a $25 gift certificate towards stamps. using the challenge of  Anything

This week over at The House that Stamps Built is our monthly photo inspiration challenge.  Below is the photo:

and here is my card:

We have a pretty  poinsettia stamp  2015-D Tiny poinsettia  and I used a cute cardinal Christmas stamp 2105-I Merry...Happy  for my sentiment.  I also stamped a small poinsettia on the envelope.  I really like to put something on the outside of my envelope.
Poinsettias colored with copic and fussy cut with the tiny poinsettia popped up on the larger poinsettia.  Layered with a curvy fancy die just to add some interest.

The House that Stamps Built - Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

This week over at The House that Stamps Built our challenge is TTT.

I chose to do a "gift" box filled with gift tags.  Gift, candy and gems center row down.

I saw the gift box of tags on Pinterest so using my envelope punch board and a 6 x 6 piece of Christmas paper I made the box, decorated with a pretty red punched bow, and a snowflake.

Now comes the fun of filling the box up with gift tags using the following:  9721-F Peppermint Candy    2012-H Pointsettia and 2015-D Tiny Pontsettia     8805-K Snowflakes  and 4512-F Large Stamp and 4513-C Small Rubber Stamp

The next four tags I stamped used:  4615-K Snowman Light   905-L Angel  2112-D Sleigh Ride Silhouette and 2708-M Pine Branch

Each tag also has 2222-C To: From:     I colored most of the tags with copic markers, glitter pens, and some just colored inks.  Added ribbon to each tag for a total of 8 tags.  This is going to my chemo buddy this week so she will have some tags to put on her Christmas gifts.

Now it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of Tic-Tac-Toe So many possibilities on this challenge.  You have a full month to enter our challenge.  You do not have to use Repeat Impressions stamps but you  do you will have two chances to win a $25 gift certificate towards stamps

December 2, 2020 Designer Choice - Pets

Can't believe that is is December - and this month always flies by so quickly - especially with the holidays - but our designer Joy over at The House that Stamps Built choose PETS to be our challenge theme.

I choose 6216-N Nip Bliss as he really reminded me so much of our first cat Thomas Cat.  He was born into a family of 6 on a farm - but we decided to make him an uptown cat - and brought him home in my coat pocket.  This guy brought us so many laughs, warm laps, companionship, comfort, and joy.  He moved from the city with us to our lake house, then we moved to a smaller house in the woods, and he was with us for 18+ years.  In addition to Thomas we acquired Nikki, and Callie and they all three thrived until their later years.  Nikki passed 6 years ago and we still have Callie - our diabetic girl - and she is 17.

Anyway some simple copic coloring - fussy cut and mounted on a velveteen mat fit for a king.  I decided to cut his name out of red velveteen and used no sentiment.  This guy will always hold a special place as our first.  My hubby says no more cats when Callie passes but...we have had a cat all our married life. Our household would just not be complete without another cat to warm our laps.

Now it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of use a PET. So many possibilities on this challenge.  You have a full month to enter our challenge.  You do not have to use Repeat Impressions stamps you will have two chances to win a $25 gift certificate towards stamps.

House that Stamps Built Anything Goes

This week is the last week of November - tomorrow Thanksgiving - and Anything Goes over at The House that Stamps Built.

I choose to go with a couple of stamps that have not seen ink in quite a while plus I got a new cloud edger stencil that I absolutely love.

The stamps I used are:

9116-N Hot Air Balloon Cluster and  6524-C Just Imagine

I used my cloud stencil and various shades of oxide distress inks applied with my brushes.  I then stamped each balloon in black ink and applied a small bling on top of the hot air balloon, for my sentiment I thought Just Imagine was very appropriate for this card.

I have a "bucket list" which includes a ride in a hot air balloon.  Yes I have already jumped from a perfectly good airplane 2 years ago.  We have gone to hot air balloon glows and races and I have always wanted to go up.  The fall would be a beautiful time to go up to see all of Mother Natures finest art work.

Technique Junkie Pine Bough, Laughter and Coffee

I have a couple more cards to share with you from Technique Junkie November release.  What a fun month this has been to work with some awesome stamps as "guest designer".  The first card is :

I used Coffee Stain Background and Love, Laughter, andCoffee for this gift/card combination.  I had some pretty little decorated bags left from last year so I decided to make a gift.  There is a cute little coffee shop we love to visit and they sell small bags of flavored coffees so I always have a couple flavors on hand.  I stamped the Coffee Stain Background on a piece of ecru cardstock.  I stamped the Love, Laughter, and Coffee on the same color cardstock and fussy cut it out.  I stamped "But you can buy Coffee" a second time, cut it out and popped it up over the original saying.  Mounted on a darker brown cardstock , applied to the bag with some "coffee" colored ribbon and I am taking this to a friend this week as she has been slightly under the weather.

For my second card I went with the beautiful Pine Bough embossed in gold, mounted on a die cut gold/silver cardstock and then mounted again on gold for my card base.  This makes such a pretty Christmas card so I went with the Merry Christmas from The Gifts of Christmas  the font is so pretty and fitting for this beautiful pine bough.

You can use my discount code below to save $$$ to purchase any of the new November release stamps.

POTW - Embossing with Mother Nature

It is my week to do a Project of the week - and I hope you not only enjoy this but will try doing it with your own art of Mother Nature.

First gather supplies

which include leaves from trees or plants in your yard on on your walks, Versa-Mark ink, embossing buddy, and your favorite embossing powder.

After dusting your solid cardstock lay your leaf out on a piece of used copy paper, and generously apply your versa-mark ink pad over the entire leaf including stem.

Lift your leaf up from the copy paper and turn it over so versamark side is face down on your colored card stock.  Again place a piece of copy paper over the leaf and gently press the versa-marked image on the card stock as shown below.

Gently lift the leaf off the colored cardstock and this is what you should see:

Generously sprinkle embossing powder of your choice, (I found that cooper, gold, medieval metals, really work the best). Heat set with your heat gun making sure all of your veins etc. are beautifully embossed.

Stamp and emboss your sentiment I used 3214-G Thanksgiving Blessings on this card- and I choose to use a bit of bling.

On the card below I used 1105-E Thinking of You and used a sheer gold ribbon on the bottom.

Hope you try this - any pretty leaf from outside or even a pretty houseplant will work well.

November 18, 2020 Inspiration Challenge

This week over at The House that Stamps Built our challenge is photo inspiration:

and here is my "creation" for this inspiration.
Add caption

Simple card - and I tried a new technique that I saw by Gina K - in which she embossed a leaf from nature.  I found a nice oak leaf from our yard (we have a LOT of oak trees) and using versamark on the leaf and then embossing in cooper I think it turned out pretty nice.  For my sentiment I used 415-H It is not how much

Now it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of Photo Inspiration So many possibilities on this challenge.  You have a full month to enter our challenge.  You do not have to use Repeat Impressions stamps  but if you do will have two chances to win a $25 gift certificate towards stamps.

The House that Stamps Built Tic-Tac-Toe challenge

This week over at The House that Stamps Built our challenge is one of my favorites:

And here is my card - I went with leaves, autumn colors and sponging

For me this is a CAS (clean and simple) I used a sizzix labl die and cut the large label using a fall plaid paper, then an orange layer and finally my sentiment layer.  I sponged around the sentiment layer and the top layer of my card.  For my sentiment I used 3214-G Thanksgiving Blessings  and in the top left corner I used
306-I Falling Leaves I fussy cut a small leaf out and put it on my sentiment layer and used a purple twine bow for accent. I enjoy sending out Thanksgiving cards to friends and family so this will be out in the mail in a week or two.

Technique Junkie November Release Cards

Today is my day to post over on the Technique Junkie blog and I am going to show you a couple of cards I designed for the November release as guest designer.

This was such a fun card to make - I used 3D-Stempel-Farbe Stamp-Paint in Rose Metallic which I picked up at Stamp Show in Collinsville, IL. about 2 years ago.  Well this was the first time I used it and won't be the last.  Using Technique Junkie Butterfly Flight Stencil I applied the paste with a crafting palette knife.  It dried pretty quickly  - then I went around the edges with some distress oxide ink.  For my focal image I used  Acceptance-Respect-Peace which is a set of 5 stamps. Using an ink that very closely matched the butterflies.  I die cut out the image . Applied a few sequins mounted the image on a layering polka dot print and then on a lavender card stock.

I loved this image from the new November Technique Junkie release , has so many possibilities.  Woodland Wonders is a full A-2 size - I stamped it twice - and it stamps so nicely.  I colored and fussy cut a few of the animals and using pop dot mounted them on the original image.  I used Santa Mail which is a set of 2 stamps.  Stamped in red, mounted on a black circle finished the card.

For my final card I used Coffee Stain. I then used First Coffee  to make an A2 card.   Stamped and then colored with copic markers the cat with her first cup of coffee..this is me in the morning, don't talk to me until I have had my coffee.. I die cut the image and mounted it on the left side of my gatefold card.

Hope you have enjoyed these three cards - they were so much fun to create with - go check them out here.

House that Stamps Built Designer Choice Challenge

The first of every month it is Designer Choice challenge and this week Heather choose PUMPKINS.  What a fun challenge to work with.  I choose to do a slimline card (my first) and I am happy with the way it turned out.

I used 514-I Prize Pumpkin and colored it in three different shades of orange using copic markers.  I then cut out three circles and put them on some pretty pumpkin paper that I recently got from HL.  Tied a ribbon around the middle with some orange crinkle ribbon and the card was complete.  I don't know if I am going to use it for a fall card or a Thanksgiving card, as I left the inside blank.

Now it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of use a pumpkin. So many possibilities on this challenge.  You have a full month to enter our challenge.  You do not have to use Repeat Impressions stamps you will have two chances to win a $25 gift certificate towards stamps.

Technique Junkie November New Release Blog Hop

I am "guest designing" for Technique Junkie for the Month of  November.  We have some amazing releases for November and I am happy to share them with you today.

All of the November 2020 release stamps  and 2 new stencils are 15% through November 8, 2020 no code needed, just put the stamps  in your cart and the 15% discount will be applied at checkout.

I am sharing a few of the cards I made using stamps from this latest release.

My first card uses Birch Tree Border plus the cloud edger stencil

/ I used distress oxide inks and the cloud edger stencil to give the vision of an early evening sunset sky, on a snowy evening.  I also used a moose punch to the scene walking on glittered hills of snow.

My next card uses Love-Laughter-and Coffee  plus a full A2 size stamp
Coffee Stain
I had a scrap piece of design paper with coffee cups that I thought went very nicely with this sentiment/stamp.  I also cut out two coffee cups plus used three brown hearts to finish this card off.
My next card uses Birch Tree Border, Woodland Wonders
I fussy cut the bird and 2 little deer from the woodland wonders and for the sentiment I thought Respect sentiment went perfect with this scene all stamped in monotone browns.

For my last card to show case on this hop I used Butterfly Flight Stencil using a light blue oxide ink , then I singled out one butterfly and made it just a bit darker blue so that the sentiment from Acceptance -respect-peace set of 5  would convey my feelings.  As you can see in the sentiment I made the PEACE the same shade of blue as I did the darker butterfly.  The corner punch I have had forever so I decided to dust it off and use it for this card.

Below you will find our blog hop list from our talented Technique Junkies designers.  So sit back with your cup of coffee or tea and enjoy looking at all the new ideas.

October 28, 2020 Anything Goes

This final week of October over at The House that Stamps Built  is one of my favorite (although not my most favorite) as well as creative people who meet our challenge for ANYTHING GOES.

Since it was so close to Halloween - I decided to go with a Halloween theme card.  I don't send out a lot of Halloween cards, to the great grands, and my chemo buddies.  I have a die that is so versatile, made by Paws itively so I decided to fill the little squares with just the jack-o-latern faces.  I used:

2325-C Bad Intentions   2328-C Happy  and 2329-C Goofy and in bottom rectangle I used 2308-C Bats and 2316-G BOO .

I had a small black cat sequin in my sequin stash and then used black and orange enamel dots to finish off the card.  I had some bright Halloween strip paper that I used for my background, and I totally used up the one little piece that I had been saving, so that 12 x 12 piece is totally gone.

Now it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of Anything Goes So many possibilities on this challenge.  You have a full month to enter our challenge.  You do not have to use Repeat Impressions stamps you will have two chances to win a $25 gift certificate towards stamps. October 27, 2020 Brightly Shining

We are almost ready to turn the calendar over to November.  Despite the challenges of this year - I often wonder "where has the time gone"?  I want to share with you a few more of my Christmas cards from the new October release of Technique Junkies Stamps - what a fun collection this is, I was able to really get a great start on my Christmas cards.

For my first two cards I used  Brightly Shining this stamp is a "stand alone stamp" as you will see below:

For the first card I used a pretty star die as a mask and blended yellow distress oxide ink lightly around the star mask so as to cast a glow.  I used blue distress oxides inks to cover the remaining card.  In the middle of the star, using my stamp positioner, I stamped my focal image in navy blue ink.  Using star punches in various sizes I used glitter cardstock  to punch out my stars and blued them around my image.   Note the rounded corners, the punch not only rounded the corner but punched out a little star.

For the second card I used a label die to stamp my focal image - embossed with silver tinsel embossing powder.  Love the sparkle.  I went around the edge of the label using a Krylon silver pen.   Going to my stash I had some pretty card stock with tiny stars which I used for my base card.  I popped up the focal image just to add a bit of interest.

I used Misty Trees and O Christmas Tree for this card.  After stamping and clear embossing  my image  I "found" my gelatos and with a finger I spread the purple color over the entire area, - I was so happy with the way it turned out.  Using one of the sentiments I stamped in black versa-mark ink and choose to put the sentiment at an angle.  A pretty little white/silver bow and card was complete.

Using Wise Men, and Cloud Edger Stencil I made the final card.  I die cut a very pretty delicate frame.
I masked off the edges of my frame  and with  blending brushes I blended blue, purple and yellow distress oxide inks to make the background.  I then splattered some water to give some added interest, then stamped my image in black versa-fine ink.

You can use the discount below by entering TJ10Shirley you can add this beautiful stamp to your Christmas collection.

October 21, 2020 Photo Inspiration

Our challenge this week over at The House that Stamps Built,  is photo inspiration, a challenge that I simply used to dread, but not so much anymore.   Here is the photo from which we were to get our inspiration"

And here is my card:

I like to keep a couple of sympathy cards on hand - as when you are in a push to make them it just seems like a daunting task.  For this card I choose to use

I sponged on my distress oxide colors first - in colors to match the photo inspiration.  I stamped some 4522-G Calm Water to make some quiet ripples in the water.  I then stamped my focal image and then decided I wanted 3412-C Gulls in the left side.  and my sentiment on the right side.  I think this scene protraits a scene of peace crossing.

Now it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of Photo Inspiration So many possibilities on this challenge.  You have a full month to enter our challenge.  You do not have to use Repeat Impressions stamps you will have two chances to win a $25 gift certificate towards stamps.

Take it Easy

Good Morning on this brisk fall morning.  This is a good day to sit inside and read a good book.

I always seem to need masculine cards - and I never think I have the "right" stamp to make man cards.  The other day I was looking through my seldom used stamps and found this set (I think maybe Hero Arts).  I made a fall card using the pretty SU fall plaid papers and while I had the stamps out decided to make a more winter or holiday style - again using the pretty SU plaids.  I used two different lamps - and note the lamp is on the left side of the chair for reading.  I have a gentleman in Canadas that I send "senior buddy" cards to - he is 90 and loves to read so the first card is going in the mail to him next week

October 14, 2020 Tic Tac Toe

This is one of my favorite monthly challenges over at The House that Stamps Built.

And that is the Tic Tac Toe Challenge:  here is the board we had to choose from:

and here is my card:

I went with the black cat, gate fold, and embossing.  My first thought was Halloween but as I was looking through my cat stamps I thought Christmas instead.  I stamped 2001-M Peaceful Observation and the sentiment to go with is 6518-D Silent Wonder.  I colored the image with copic markers and then decided to add some nighttime sky to the window panes.  (Should have thought of the first), then for the snow flakes I used my white pen.  I used a gold gel pen around the panes, ad added a bit of Wink of Stella on the cats bow.  I thought the Silent Wonder went very well with this image, which I embossed in silver.  Another Christmas card ready for mailing this year.

Now it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of Tic Tac Toe So many possibilities on this cNow it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of Tic Tac Toe So many possibilities on this challenge.  You have a full month to enter our challenge.  You do not have to use Repeat Impressions stamps you will have two chances to win a $25 gift certificate towards stamps.
