March 25, 2020 Anything Goes

Where oh where is the time going???  Can't believe it is the end of March already.  It seems like it was a long winter for us but I feel sure spring is here.
I chose to do an Easter inspired card for my anything goes challenge this week.

I'm thinking of "Palm Sunday" Easter theme for my card this week.  I used the
5120K Palm Frond Large for my card and the sentiment Rejoice 3907-G.  I used a post it note in the center of my card and then stamped the palm  frond stamped around the post it note.  I then removed the post it note and stamped Rejoice in the same green - and then again slightly off using versa mark and gold embossing.  So I had gold in mind, I have a punch with photo corners which I used to punch out my photo corners and then one more embellishment.  I had a card of silver crosses in my stash - so trying something new I pressed the silver cross on the versamark ink pad and dipped it in the gold embossing powder and heat set.  It worked.  I usually send out several Easter cards - I already have the kids cards made but I was needing some more adult ones.

March 23, 2020 Pick of the week - Wreath Builder

This week it is my turn to do  Pick of the Week or Project of the Week over at
the House that Stamps Built.

I am going to show you how to make and use your own wreath template.  My first template was one that was homemade and given to me by a friend, but there are "several" templates you can purchase at your local stamp store, or online. If you make your own here is what you need:

You can get this at a craft store/office supply store or if you have a heavier piece of acetate you can use that.

You will need to cut 2 squares from heavy cardstock. You may make your wreath any size but the most frequently used is 3 inch, 3 3/4 inch and 4 inch.  For this project I used 2   -  4 inch squares.
Lay your squares on top of each other as show in the above picture.  Place your pattern on top of your acetate or craft plastic, draw around image with pencil and cut with sharp craft knife. You will use the negative portion to make your wreath.

Gather your supplies:

You will need a precise stamping platform of your preference, magnets, stamps, I used 3112-E Life's Short  and 4513-C Rubber Stamp Small.

With a small piece of washi tape or purple tape put your stencil in the bottom right of your stamping platform (I used a Misti). Place your square of cardstock inside the open area of the stencil.  Place your stamp face down on the right side of the stencil as shown. Pick up stamp with the lid of your stamp platform.

Apply ink to your rubber stamp and close platform door stamping your first image. Do NOT move stamp.

Turn your square piece of card stock one position to the RIGHT again ink the stamp and stamp the second image, continue to do this as in picture below, always turning your 4 inch square to the right. You will NOT move your stamp only the square piece of cardstock.  Do this step until you have your wreath completed - there will 8 images in a perfect wreath shape.

Completed stamped wreath with sentiment stamped in the middle.

Now lets color your newly formed wreath:

I chose to go with some bright and happy colors as stamping makes me HAPPY.  I had picked out my DP that I wanted to layer the 4 inch square on so I tried to match the colors on the DP.

I made my base card a 5 1/2 inch square, cut my DP to a 5 inch square and then on top the 4 inch wreath square.

Hope you will get creative and try this with different size squares and images.

March 18, 2020 Photo Inspiration

This week over at The House that Stamps Built our challenge is photo below:

So I have this quartet Friends Quartet - 8501U in my collection that I have never used.  Since one of my "goals" this year is to use stamps/supplies that I have not used before NBUS - never before used stuff.  I was very happy with the way this turned out, and there are so many ways you can use this stamp.  I went with the purple flowers .  So - I looked over on a shelf and the first thing my eye caught was the crocheted flowers and I had one in purples that would work in the middle.  When I did Home Health nursing I had a patient that did a lot of crochet work and she made me a baggie full of variegated colors.  I have used some but not nearly all that fit in the bag.  A purple/white doily and a couple of pink little butterflies and my card was complete.

March 15, 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit

I was cleaning out - or lets say organizing my craft spare closet and I realized how many Paper Pumpkin kits from Stampin Up I had and had never used.  What a waste of good card stock, embellishments, envelopes and stamps. So I started on my February 2020 kit.  It was an evening when there was NOTHING on television so I came to my craft room and started in on the kit.  Below is what I finished.

Stampin Up stepped up their game with this one - I made 10 cards and already sent out two of them this past week.  Looking forward to working on another kit this afternoon.

March 4th, 2020 "Raining" Cats and Dogs

Can't believe another month of 2020 is behind us and we are already into March.  This month over at The House that Stamps Built  our Rock Star Esther chose the theme "Raining" Cats and Dogs for our challenge, so anything cats, dogs or rain or all of the above.

Here is my card for the challenge, outside and then inside as well.

No rain but 2 darling kitties playing - which not only kittens but adults love to play so I gave them a ball of yard and let them go.
I used 4207-H Playtime Cat  both on the outside as well as the inside.  I decided to make a little yarn for them to play with so I made them each a ball in 2 different colors.  I punched a small 3/8 inch circle and wrapped the bakers twine around and around.  On the outside I followed through with gluing the string on the stamped image lines, on the insid just gave the cat a ball of yarn.  I stamped the cats on two different cardstock fussy cut them and went from there.
Used a fancy fold corner which I have not made in a while but easy easy.

Challenges:
Crafty Friends - use an animal
     The Paper Funday - ATG
     Dare 2 Be Artsy -ATG
