September 29, 2016 Parachute Pig

Is this little pig not cute - I almost missed the deadline for September - every month GSD designs offers a free digi - you buy the first one when you compete in the challenge and then the monthly are free as long as you submit a card or project for the current month.

I needed a get well card for a friend that was in the hospital and I thought this would work perfectly.  Pig colored with copic markers, fussy cut an additional parachute, then I shaped the top parachute and then popped it up with pop dots for added dimension.  BG is cloud cs from AMuse Studio.  Since it was a guy twine I added just a bit of dark blue twine.

Challenges:
GSD Designs - use image of the month
Crafting from the Heart- anything goes
Craft your passion - anything goes

September 28, 2016 Sketch Challenge THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BIULT

This is the last Wednesday of the month so that means Sketch Challenge which you wil see below over at The House that Stamps Built.  I flipped it on its side which works for me.

Below you will see the card I made - with Halloween quickly approaching I decided to go with a cute Halloween card.  I used 2309G Spooktacular and 2321G Frankenstein Face

I love double sided designer papers - that way there is no guessing if they go together.  I colored Frankenstein Face with copic markers, added some tiny google eyes and mounted him on a scallop circle.  Got together with some crafting friends this past week and Diane got me some Halloween washi tape (late birthday) plus she made me several cards for my chemo patients. I don't think this is to scary to send to dear sweet great granddaughter along with some "healthy" treats.

Hoping you will create a  card using this sketch as your inspiration over at The House that Stamps Built.  You don't have to use a REPEAT IMPRESSIONS stamp but if you do you will an additional entry in the random drawing drawing for a a $25  REPEAT IMPRESSIONS gift certificate.  HINT:  Take a look over on my side bar and you will see a 10% discount on REPEAT IMPRESSIONS STAMPS.  We would love to see your creation.
Now go take a peek at what our Design Team teammates have created for this weeks challenge.

September 26,2016 - Project of the Week - The House that Stamps Built

GOLD LEAFING

This week over at The House that Stamps Built it is my designer project of the week and I was so excited that it fell during the fall season.  I just got "new" stamps of leaves, and autumn greetings and for this one I used:  5127K  Maple leaf Silhouette  and the Thanksgiving greeting 1140E Thanksgiving .  The technique I used is GOLD LEAFING and although it has been around for a long time I haven't done it in a while. You get better results if you use a solid image vs. one with thinner open lines.  Therefore I used brown ink for my greeting vs. doing it in gold leaf.

Here are the supplies I used for my project.

I used Emboss Stick which is a sticky embossing powder - stamped with VersaMark and then sprinkled the embossing powder.

As with any embossing,  sprinkle your extra embossing powder back in the container. When you heat emboss, heat until the image is shiny - this will not take very long and don't over heat as it will not stick, hence Sticky Embossing powder.  You may want to do one for trial and error before you get the right stickiness.  Immediately put in container with the gold flakes, make sure your image is face down.

I have a container that I keep my flakes in and you can use them over and over, so there is no waste.  I also used a regular 1/2 inch paint brush. Use an inexpensive one that you can get in most craft departments.

You press the gold leafing all over the shiny embossed area.

You brush and move all of the gold leaf off of the image and you will see the more you brush the more vibrant your colors become.

I stamped my greeting with brown versafine ink and then completed my card.

Added a bakers twine bow and some brown pearls. If you have some gold leafing in your stash get it out and play.

September 21, 2016 House that Stamps Built Photo Inspiration

INSIDE

This week is photo inspiration week over at The House that Stamps Built and you can see the photo is a combo of back to school, and sweet treats.  I decided to make a post-it-note holder using Repeat Impressions   9302P CUPCAKES  and some fun school papers I had in my stash.  I die cut "notes" glued them on the front of my holder then stamped the cupcake on white, fussy cut the cupcake holder from some DP colored the icing and sprinkles and glued it on the circle that was a precut card.  I had a box of these cute "golf" pencils in my STASH - and thought it would work well with the project with a little velcro to hold it on the post it note holder.   I like the way this turned out and I think it will go to dear granddaughter in my next grandma love package to her.
Hoping you will create a  card using this photo as your inspiration over at The House that Stamps Built.

September 16, Fun Fall Card

This is just a fun fall card with NO stamping - the die is from Spellbinders - (with 40% off) Hobby Lobby and yes those are butterflies.  I saw this die and I thought "versatile" fall, spring, summer,  My first was a fall card - so die cut the tree - then it comes with 3 additional die with the darling little butterflies, so I got out scraps of fallish colors, cut and then glued then on the tree and sprinkled a few around the card as well.  Some fall leaf bg paper and a pretty magenta ribbon and this card is ready to go out in the mail today.  When you see a stamp, a die, a digi do you think of multiple ways you can use it???

September 14, 2016 Happy Birthday

This week at The House that Cards Built it is Designer Choice and our Rock Star Designer is Heather.  She choose our theme which is Birthday and who always seems to need birthday cards?
I chose to your a sentiment from Holy Crap  sheet 10600. This sheet is Wendy's (our company owner, and designer) latest release from this summer and it is a "must have" set - for anyone with a sense of humor.  I then chose the jar 9705M and the chocolate drops 9715C  from Contain Yourself .  When I saw the chocolate drops I thought of chocolate kisses - and I wanted them in metallic colors so I used my glitter gel pens to color the chocolate drops.  I cut a small slit in the jar lid and wrapped a pink narrow ribbon and tied in a bow.  I really like the way this turned out and I have a birthday coming up real soon that I need to send a card.

Hoping you will create a  birthday card over at The House that Stamps Built.

August 9, 2016 Beautiful Bottles

When I saw this beautiful digi set from MHK Designs Beautiful Bottles I knew I had to add it to my collection as well as some very pretty versatile papers Positively Purple .  This new to me card design if my new favorite style - so fun to work with and you can add to or leave very simple.  I made my first one for sweet great grandsons BD last week and I thought this would work perfectly for a chemo buddy that is having some real challenges during her chemo. Love the sentiment on the front, I printed out the bottle, colored with prisma pencils then glued it on another scrap piece of cs and cut both of them out for stability.  I also wanted the word faith so I have a die cut and I cut 3 using my base cs, glued them together, smooshed them with my versamark pad and dipped in clear embossing powder, looks like a beautiful chip board embellishment.l probably need extra postage on this envelope when I mail it.
     Challenges:
MHK Designs - anything goes if you use a MHK design
A Gem of aChallenge - use ribbon, lace or twine
Aud Sentiments - use a sentiment
The Crafters Cafe - use 2 pattern papers
Word Art Wednesday - use uplifting sentiment

September 5 -THE HOUSE THAT CARDS BUILT Color challenge

The "ber" months are here - as in SeptemBER, OctoBER, and NovemBER - but it is still warm here in southern MO.  This week is our color challenge over at THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT  and I knew immediately what I was going to do.  The dancing Ballerina Pig  909G was stamped 3 times on watercolor paper - and colored with watercolor pencils - scallop edge, pink polka dot cs, a bright cheery sun and a Happy Hello 9717C made this card complete.  I liked the way it turned out and decided to make another one but changed up the color of the pig's tutu

Hoping you will create a card over at The House that Stamps Built.

September 5, 2016 Enamel Dots

Another fun stamp that one of my besties Pat let me use when we had a stamping day was this stamp by Woodware called Bubble Bloom.  They are located in the UK but the little stamping store The Stamp Pad in Kimmswick MO carries some of their collection. This stamp can be used for a variety of cards from Happy Birthday, Thinking of you, Christmas, and yes masculine depending on the colors you use.  I choose to go with bright and fun and I used an asst. of mixed enamel dots and then some I created using Nuvo Crystal Drops.  The learning curve with these dots is very short - I think I got it on the second try, and as you can see I "messed" one of mine up - not by an error in application but by sticking my hand on the wet stuff.  UGH, I decided to continue with the card as that was my last dot and oh well - it is made from the heart and who ever gets it will know the giver was joyous when she made it.  I send a lot of cards out to Chemo Angels to people who just need a pick me up or an extra prayer so I will write inside this one a note of encouragement.

August 1, 2016 HOUSE OF CARDS SEPTEMBER CHALLENGE

This month over at HOUSE OF CARDS challenge our theme was birds or color - well I choose birds from Mynn Kichen Etsy shop - here- when I saw these whimsical - mod - steam punky birds from Tweet Tweet I already had ideas buzzing.  There are three birds and then fun -you can also get the FUN digi papers Cheerful Chirpings to go along with these FUN birds.

This layout was totally cased from a Christmas card class I took in July - and we used Christmas papers for the "quilting".  I punched 1 inch squares (10) and arranged in an eye pleasing pattern, glued them in place and then ran the card front through my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder.  I love this technique and I love the quilted layout.  I printed out my digi birdie, colored it with prisma/OMS and a gold spica pen fussy cut it - opped it up on some foam dots.  Then I sized and printed my sentiment punched it out - added two sweet enamel dots and this card is ready to go.  Oh wait I added a Crackerbox eye - which looks almost lifelike.

Come join our challenge over at The House of Cards.  Will be looking for your great creations to this challenge this month
