Tiger Birthday Card

When I first saw this set  (Wild Cats) in the new SU catalog I put it on my wish list.  I knew it would make some cute boy birthday cards as well as masculine cards.  Here is the first card I made - for my great grandson who will turn 6 this Saturday.  I really like how it turned out.

I stamped the tiger in fossilized Amber distress oxide ink - and I think it is a perfect color.  Then the stripes were stamped in black.  His face was stamped was stamped in black as well.  (There are two tigers in this set - two faces - and one set of stripe.).  I added a few extra stripes on his tail and legs.  The "have a wild birthday" is punched out with Tailored Tag and then the layer it is on was punched out with the same tag - cut in half and positioned behind the original sentiment.  I also got the Wil Cat embossing Folder but did not use it on this card.  I had some Echo Park 6 x 6 DP and thought this went so well with my card.  The tiger came with a die cut which was spot on in cutting.  I think my gret grandson (who will turn 6) will love his card.

New Neighbors

We have new neighbors that recently moved into their beautiful newly built home.  I made a card using Taylored Expressions stamp/die, computer generated their address for the post sign, and then for my background paper I photo copied a map of our town marking their new address with a red bling.

and on the inside I used another stamp from my collection made by Morning Star - again I have had this stamp a long time and it is perfect for new home owners.

I made up a little gift bag with nuts, chocolate covered almonds and a fall candle to welcome them to our neighborhood.

The House that Stamps Built - Anything Goes

This is the last Wednesday in August and over at The House that Stamps Built our challenge is Anything Goes.

For my ATG card I made this:

I made a book bind card - (so much fun), and for my focal image I decided to use 9611-H Lemon/Lime using some pretty lemon DP at Hobby Lobby which I had run through the embossing folder.  For my sentiment I used 9717-C A Happy Hello . I  like to match my card with the giftie as I sent my chemo buddy a tea towel and hot pad with lemons and a bag of lemon drops.

I hope she enjoys her card and giftie.  When you are a chemo buddy you try to send small gifts weekly - this was easy to fold and put in a kraft 9 x 6 envelope.  Often it costs me more in postage than I spent on the giftie, but my goal is to bring a smile to my chemo buddy's face as she goes through difficult days.

Now it is your turn to make a card or project using the challenge of ATG card.   So many possibilities on this challenge.  You have a full month to enter our challenge.  You do not have to use Repeat Impressions stamps but if you do  you will have two chances to win a $25 gift certificate towards stamps. using the challenge ATG

Summer Theme - The House that Stamps Built

Oh WOW where has summer gone - we are in the dog days of summer here in southern Missouri - but in just a few short weeks we will start feeling cooler fall breezes.  This week at The House that Stamps Built our challenge was summer.  Talk about possibilities - but I finally decided to go with:

Sandcastle 9016-M to go with my "beachy" DP I had in my stash.  I die cut the sandcastle as well as an extra layer to mount it on and made a gate fold card.

For the inside : I used 2407-G Life's a Beach  and added a couple of small die cut sea shells.  My grandkids went to the beach this summer so I think this card will go to them.

The House that Stamps Built - Anything but a Card

This week over at The House that Stamps Built our challenge is Anything but a card.  Here is what I made

I used some hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works that I picked up on sale.  These make cute little gifties to put in my chemo buddy packages but they needed to be dressed up a bit so I made a holder for them.  I used some fall papers on my box, then die cut an acorn and popped it upon front.  I then made a bitty tag and stamped 3311-C Acorn and 3601-I Falling leaves on a separate piece of card stock, colored them with copic markers and fussy cut them out.  I glued the leaf down and used pop dots on the acorns to apply to the small tag.  Used some brown/white bakers twine to attach the tag  This makes a fun presentation vs. just the bottle of sanitizer.

The House that StampsBuilt - use a tag on your card

This first Wednesday in August at The House that Stamps Built  our challenge is to use a tag on a card.  I have been seeing some mixed media cards and thought I would try one, although not my usual style.

I took a manila tag from my stash and used Tim Holtz crayons I laid down a couple of colors - I then smoothed them out using a baby wipe.  I then stamped my focal image 8120-K Scruffy Puppy and sentiment 8117-E A Dog loves You.  I then used a stencil of just dots and did a bit of stenciling on my tag, then used an embossing folder and ran it through my embossing machine.  Added some dog paw print ribbon and a dog paw print charm tied on with bakers twine.  Used some pretty plaid papers as well as another DP that has dog sentiments.  I poped up my tag on pop dots.  Fun card to make.

POTW Childs Birthday Card

My turn  on The House that Stamps Built for the project for this week.  My dear granddaughter loves handmade cards so for her birthday I made her twenty assorted cards, with envelopes and stamps.  She said that was her favorite gift.  Well a couple of weeks ago we went to great grandsons 3rd birthday party.  So dear grand daughter requested more cards - this time kids birthday cards.  From the number of kids (ages 1 to 14) that were there I need to make about 30.  So I started with this one.

My dear friend and I had been shopping a couple of weeks ago at a new stamping store in quaint St. Charles, MO. Main street.  When I saw the ice cream paper I knew it was coming home with me.  So lets gather supplies.

The base of the card is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 - just a single layer, then I cut the designer paper 5 1/4 by 4.  I used an old standby die set that I have had for a really  long time.  I used 4 different sizes of this die.

This layer was cut on folded cardstock so the card could be opened.  Place the die just beyond the fold before you cut.  Next I cut out the top 2 pieces - these are just single layer.

I then stamped and fussy cut 9008-N Cool Treats.  It is 3 cool ice cream images on one stamp but I cut it apart and use them individually or I can place them back together and stamp all three.  This is the beauty of rubber stamps - a lot of them can be altered to fit your need.  I only used the ice cream cone.  I stamped the image on white and then just the cone on a pattern paper.

I fussy cut the image from white and colored the ice cream in pinks with copic markers, then I cut just the waffle cone and paper pieced it on the cone portion of the image.

I popped the cone up on pop dots and place a bit of bling on top of the ice cream.  As this is going to be a birthday card I stamped 8606-E Happy Birthday on pattern paper and used the smallest die in the set to cut it out and pop it up on pop dots.

Here is how the card opens and the saying on the inside. I used 9313-D Sweet

I plan on working later this week on more birthday cards for her collection - we have some really great stamps to use for kids birthday.  Come join me in the future to see what else I come up with for kids birthday.

If you have kids birthday cards to make look through your Repeat Impressions Stamps - what a nice selection.
