Blog Hop Christmas in July

With the temperature at almost 100 and heat warnings out for several states from East to West, North to South it was so much fun to think Christmas!!! And this card sure put me in the mood for some cooler weather and making my Christmas cards. This card is a Pop-up stage card that was on SCS complete with directions and I guess the directions were pretty good as my card came out pretty much like it was supposed to!! I used Jingle Jolly for all my images except Merry Christmas and my DP was Maggie. As you can see it all folds in and the card is held together with a belly band so you can mail it (may require a bit extra postage) then can be displayed standing up!! This card is already marked for my dear granddaughter. I am so anxious to see what everyone has done for this PaperWings sponsored hop - Christmas in July!! Just click on the list below and enjoy.

Apple of my Eye

OMG I love this new set by Mabelle - it is just too cute. You can color (like I did her face and hands, pie crust and shoes) paperpiece (like I did her dress, bloomers, hairbow and pie dish) or you can spotlight her like I did a couple of posts ago. This card is going to a special child and I am hoping it brings a smile to their face. I colored her with copic markers and the DP I choose was Miss Moxie because it just went so well with this image. Of course a bit of bling and a flower and card complete.

Winter Wishes

No I am not crazy - well okay maybe a little - but it is 94 outside and there is no break in sight from the temps for at least the next week so I thought a winter card would help cool me off!!! Not real good logic but this was a fun card to make - I love Mice Day - and I have had an idea for this winter coat for a while - the safety pin worked perfect and I think just added a sweet touch. She is colored with copic markers, oval is a nestie as well as the banner with the sentiment. Then my friend Pat and I had coupons for Martha Stewart 40% off - that does not happen often. Well Pat wasn't with me so my DH stood in line with one coupon and I with another and we got these too cute double punched borders. This one is going home with Pat and I have a flower/vine one that is too cute - I am sure you will see it soon. I had to make sure Pats worked so I punched out a border for my card - and yes Pat it does work nicely.

Sugar Plums Emma

Isn't she the cutest??? She was so much fun to color - and I am again practicing on my coloring skills this time hair. This little girl came from All that Scraps - they have several - well okay lots of cute images to color. I sat her on my bench of DP from Echo Park (fun new papers), then added some lace I had in my basket for a long time. This time I selected the DP before I colored her - I usually color and then try and find something that goes with the coloring!!! So much easier this way.

Mice Day

This little guy is so cute and part of a set of 13 - he is cut with a round nestie and the technique is called "out of the box" or in this case out of the circle. I have really been working on my color blending with my copics since my friend and fellow angel buddy Chelsea worked with not only me but several of the angels at seminar. I want to be able to color like chelsea when I grow up - (oh wait I am grown up!!). I cut a circle card with the largest scallop circle and doesn't it look like he is ready to write a note. This card will find a home yet this week as I am now a "special assignment" angel for Chemo angels.

Spotlighting

This weekend over at TACwe are having a Blog Hop on spotlighting. I knew immediately which set I wanted to use - the NEW Apple of My Eye - this darling bear is just too cute and I knew I was going to spotlight the pie. I colored with copic markers, highlighted a bit with a gold atyou glitter pen (what fun to use), mounted both the spotlight and the bear on kraft cs - my DP uses Miss Moxie - it is so bright and cheerful - sure to make anyone feel better. I have some new banner nesties which I popped the sentiment on. A bit of bling and a touch of ribbon - card complete.

Doodle Pantry Challenge #14

OMG - I have loved this did set from Doodle Pantry from the first time I saw it - it makes such a cute fun summer - the ants look like they are in my backyard!!! I choose yellow because it is a bright summer color - then mounted my image and words on a light blue to match my yellow/green and blue ribbon. I ran my base card through the cuttlebug as it reminds me of bubbles, and I tied my ribbon around a digi paper again from Doodle Pantry. I thought it just all pulled together with my colors of green, yellow and blue.

Konnichiwa

Another new set from the 2011-2012 Inspiration book from The Angel Company and this is just one of my favs - (yes I can have more than 1!!), there are 3 little geisha girls and they are so... much fun to color with copic markers. There are 14 stamps in this set and I stamped the fan with versa mark to make my bg. I cut the little girl out then mounted her on a labels 10 nestie (another favorite of mine) sponged some aged mahogany distress ink in the center of the nestie then mounted on a dk. pink cs. The pearls on her fan cover a bit of a boo-boo!! and I put 2 dots of liquid pearls on the pins in her hair which I thought looked rather cute!!

America I Love

This is a NEW level A set from our NEW Inspiration catalog - I love the retro feel of this image. I didn't relize how challenging it would be for me to color - I attempted with my copics, couldn't save it!!! Then I went to my prisma pencils and OMS and had a little more control where the color was going. I did use a Atyou gold pen to add a bit of sparkle to the banner and red to dot some flowers. I cut out and distressed the edges with a pair of scissors (can't find my distresser) mounted it on some downloaded stars paper mounted on red, then used red/white bakers twine punched stars in the corner and my card base is blue. I took my cloud stencil and made soft fluffy clouds in the sky. Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th.

Patriotic Turtle

This card is going to serve a dual purpose, first of all this cute adorable turtle in his red/white/blue finery is just too cute, he came as a digi from Doodle Pantry and I love love love her images, especially the precolored ones - talk about easy!!! I am also going to enter this in PaperPlay Time with the challenge being red/white and blue - again perfect. But most important this celebrates our 4th of July holiday and our freedom! May you have a safe and happy holiday.
