June 26, 2019 - Anything Goes

This week over at The House that Stamps Built our challenge is Anything Goes - always one of my favorite challenges.
I choose to "try" something that I have not tried before - tunnel card - it really is quite easy - a few score line fold, and stamp.  For my focal image I used
Holiday Lamp Post 2002-J  and Merry Christmas 1141-F.  I cut the Merry Christmas in half for a bit more flexibility in using and placement.  I had to go to my Christmas supplies to get a couple of sheets of holiday paper - and this is the FIRST Christmas card I have made for 2019.  I colored the lamp post in copics and used stickles to add some glitter snow.  When I turned my card over - oops there was the copic coloring coming through - so I used  a coordinating piece of holiday paper for the front of the card, cut out an oval in white and used the
pattern oval from the inside of my card.  The sentiment on the front of the card
is Joy to the World 428-G

June 19, 2019 - Photo Inspiration challenge

Inspiration challenge this week over at The House that Stamps Built and our photo was a challenge for me until I decided to go with the colors.  I used
7120-L Underpants Frog and 7007-J May the light  for my main images.  I then printed a copy of the challenge oncopy paper and paper pieced the frogs under wear.  A little wink of Stella to give them a shimmer was added just for fun.
I love the saying that goes with this image and oh my I hope no one finds frogs in their underpants.  I used rectangle dies to cut my layers using again some of the colors in the challenge picture.  I am going to send this to my chemo buddy - I think she will get a smile out of this, will be a change from the Thinking of You cards I usually send to her.

June 12,2019 Tic-Tac-Toe

This week over at The House that House Built our challenge is Tic-Tac-Toe and this is one of my favorite challenges, so many possibilities but I went with the bottom row across, dog, pattern paper and twine, as seen below.

I needed to make a pet sympathy card - they had Princess for 13 years - so she was a beloved family member.  I just happened to have a die cut with "Princess" as a header and I used 8121-P Golden Retriever and their girl was a mixed breed but his looked very similar to her.   It is so hard to say goodbye to a beloved family member that loves
unconditionally.

On the inside I used 4015-G Loss of your pet and 8118-C Dog Bone.

June 8, 2019 Graduation, wedding and birthday cards

Dear daughter called and asked Mom for 4 cards that she needed she said there was just something special about handmade cards vs. store bought.
I did a graduation card for both male and female, love the female -totally cased from Pinterest.  The birthday card was made with the new SU All Geared Up set that my friend Cheryl let me borrow.  This card is for dear grand daughters boy friend Noah.  He just got a car so daughter is going to put a gas card in with it so he can buy gas.  The wedding card is for another friend of daughters son that is getting married.  I love this layout - especially the die cut Mr. and Mrs.
She was very excited when she got them in the mail this past week.

Off now to make a couple of Fathers Day Cards.

June 6, 2019 - Anything with Wings

Wasn't it just May - it sure did go by quickly.  So now the start of another new month - June - and we have a couple of surprises.  This week over at The House that Stamps Built  our newest (well really old) Rock Star is Patti Gilliam.  She was a Rock Star a couple of years back and has now joined us again.).  I'm sure you will enjoy seeing her work again.
Form entry with the challenge of Anything with Wings I used the image
1704-P Great Blue Heron.  I colored the main image with colored pencils.  I have a die cut image of just waves, so I put the Heron standing in the water.  You can see his legs peeking through the open waves.  I then stenciled in some clouds, and for my sentiment I used 9717-C Happy Hello.  I think this will be a very nice masculine card.  Maybe a=even a Happy Fathers Day card.

June 3,2019 Project of the Week

This week over at The House that Stamps Built  it is my turn to show you the project of the week.  Just seems like we were wishing the snow would end, and now it is June.

For my project- embossing on mulberry paper, I used Hello from plate 9900 and
Baby Owl 2613-H .   The Hello plate has multiple stamps that you can mix and match and is such a bargain for you to purchase the entire plate.

For my supplies I gathered my Versa-Mark Ink pad, gold embossing powder, stamps, embossing folder, water, and mulberry paper.  I have had my mulberry paper for quite some time - ok a really long time - and keep waiting for it to be popular again in stamping.  One of the techniques I enjoyed was embossing on the mulberry paper.

I stamped the Baby Owl and the hello on two individual pieces of mulberry paper, and sprinkled gold embossing powder on each.  Make sure all the strays are gone, then "carefully" heat set your embossing powder - DO NOT overheat or it will be a disappointment - ask me how I know.

Here is the image heat set on the white mulberry paper.  After image cooled - I sprayed with water around the image and carefully tore the edge letting some of the woven strings stay.  It will tear very easily when slightly moistened.

I used brown cardstock and ran it through a Sizzix embossing wood grain folder to use for mounting my images on.  I attache the woodgrain piece on a piece of light kraft cardstock.  To apply the embossed images I used liquid glue and carefully dotted glue behind the embossing on both the hello and the baby owl, so the ink dries clear and can't be seen.

Finished card - I think this will go out in the mail this week to my senior buddy in Canada.  He is a "bird watcher" so I think he will enjoy this card.
I bet most of us have all the supplies in our stash so get our the mulberry paper and give this a try.
