New Horizons SU Papers

A couple of weeks ago our little group of four got together to celebrate another spring birthday - Happy Birthday Patti.  It was a surprise - and I kept thinking she wasn't going to come as she had a cold with sniffles, and lethargy so I finally told her she had to come help me figure out a card I wanted to make.  So with a bit of reluctance she came - we had banners, balloons, and a special lunch - homemade vegetable soup, crackers with peanut butter/honey, a homemade cake and my DH made homemade ice cream.  Did we take pictures - NO - totally forgot but did take pictures of one of the card we made compliments of Sally  and Paper Pumpkin.

I just love not only the Paper Pumpkin kit using the New Horizons, but the paper as well as the stamp set and dies.  I will have pictures of Cheryl's cards in a couple of days.

I am so glad we all live close enough that we can get together often and exchange ideas as well as enjoy our friendships.

You Are Fierce Birthday Card

Seems like I am needing more masculine/boy cards lately so I recently made a "tiger" card using Wild Cats from SU - the tiger/leopard are a bit tricky to stamp but again I used my stamp positioner so I could get the stripes right.

This is another corner tuck in flap card - but it works really well for this card and easy to make.  This card went to the son of one of my chemo buddies.  I always try and include them in my cards, notes, and sometimes a gift like for his birthday.

This is such a fun set to play with:

Once I had the stripe placement worked out - I went ahead and made a couple of these cards to put in my masculine stack.  This one I used to send to my chemo teen boy.

Hummingbird - A Touch of Ink

I really struggle with the two step stamps from SU - that is unless I use my stamp positioner.  The two step stamping is supposed to look like a watercolor and isn't supposed to be perfect but the OCD in me wants to make it "almost" perfect to line up.  This set has four images in it and lots of fun sentiments.  I did two different techniques, one a fun fold and a stack, cut and shuffle.  My friend Cheryl  was my inspiration for this style. you cut and shuffle 4 different design papers that all coordinate.  I like this and you get at least 4 cards- all different.

The second card is a tuck in the corner that I have made before (Pinterest) and the top right corner tucks in on the base card.  A fun card to make and again I used A Touch of Ink using a little bit more coloring on the hummingbird.  I took a sponge dauber and sponged in his light ruby belly.  Both of these cards will go out in the mail next week to a couple of chemo patients.

Cup and a Card

It was so nice to join some of our Cup and a Card gang last Tuesday.  We had coffee, a sweet treat, lots of talking, and oh made a cute cute card with the new ladybug set/punch.  Out hostess Sally had everything cut and ready to put together (so we could spend more time catching up on the last 2 years).  Here is our card.

This is such a cute practical stamp set and punch - good for so many occasions and leaves lots of room to be creative.  Enjoy.
