May 25, 2016 Repeat Impressions SketchChallenge

GOOD MORNING

It is the last Wednesday of the month and that means sketch challenge over at The House that Stamps Built.

For my take on the sketch challenge I used a library pocket that I picked up at Michael's Store the last time I went shopping.  Who can go to Michael's and not buy something right???  I stamped my image using the new Flower Power Series - 10307H - 10316D and 10321-H  from REPEAT IMPRESSIONS .  After I stamped my image I embossed in black tinsel embossing powder.  I punched a circle out and cut it in half using the same designer paperthat I used for the background.  I stamped my Happy Birthday - 1113-D.  I needed a touch of bling - so wrapped a black ribbon around the library pocked and used a gem jewel again from Michael's.

Hoping you will create a card using our photo inspiration to enter our challenge over at
The House that Stamps Built.  You don't have to use Repeat Impressions stamps but if you do you will get an added bonus of an additional entry in the random drawing for a $25 Repeat Impressions gift certificate. HINT - take a peek over on my side bar and you will see a 10% discount on Repeat Impressions stamps.  We would love to see you create something.

Now why not go check out my DT team mates and see what they have created.

May 22, 2016 REPEAT IMPRESSIONS Flower Power Backgrounds and Borders Release.

GOOD MORNING

What a pretty Sunday it is here in Southern MO.  We had quite a rainy week - well really a rainy month but all this rain has made the flowers bloom and they are just beautiful.  I am so proud to be able to share with you another new release from REPEAT IMPRESSIONS  new flower series.  Below are two cards I made using Flower Power 103 series.

My first card uses the large background stamp with such a variety of beautiful flowers and the ideas are limitless on how you can use this stamp.  I stamped it on white cs and colored it using my Gelatos and Faber-Castell big brush artist pens.  I think I like getting my fingers messy but it cleans up very well with a baby wipe.  I embossed my sentiment on vellum and added two med. black pearls.

On my second card - again I used a flowered oval and I saw a frame - so I stamped the small butterfly using 9009-F.   I stamped both images on vellum and embossed with gold.  I then colored on the back of the vellum using Tombow markers.  I added my sentiment 4025F and embossed it in black on a shimmer gold strip.  A narrow blue ribbon finished this card .

May 20, 2016 Happy Birthday Dog

Using another Gerda Steiner digi image today - I needed a child's birthday card and thought this was perfect.  Colored this little doxie dog and banner with copic markers, cut out Happy Birthday - used some new cute summer papers I had in my "HUGE" paper pad basket - this is from Echo Park called Summer Days.  Thought it worked out really well for this image.  Going to put a little "green folding paper" in the card and I think he will be happy.     Challenges:

May 18, 2016 REPEAT IMPRESSIONS Photo Callenge

WOW
GOOD MORNING

We are already more than half way through May and somehow most days just seem to get busier.  This week was a photo inspiration

and here is my take on this challenge.

For this challenge over at THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT    I saw the spring flowers and immediately thought of this amazing 8 1/2  x 11 sheet of stamps called  Contain Yourself offered at
I needed a pretty feminine birthday card and this was perfect.  I colored the image with copic markers, spica gel pens and copic white paint.  Then I remembered I had some pink tulle so I got it out, - ok - then some white organdy ribbon tied in a bow and I think this card was ready to go, except I needed a small glittered butterfly in the picture. I cut off the top foanything goesld of the card so I had room to use the vertical Happy Birthday 6104-J .

May 17, 2016 Cheers

Is this little guy the cutest - he is from Gerda Steiner, for a monthly challenge that she sponsers.  Each month she offers a free digi after you have participated (buying one of her darling digis), special for the monthly challenge.  I thought about this wanting a bright and cheery card.  I had a stencil from Memory Box called Texture Drip.  I sponged the stencil with some bright cheery clors to use for my background.  Colored the image with copic markers and cut out the word cheers.  What a fun card to make.

May 16, 2016 Fishes

Needed a cute simple easy quick card to get in the mail and I remember I had this one all colored up and "almost put together.  I really like fishes - and saw a video on line that I want to CASE using my Misti - but this one worked for me.  Used a stamp I have had for a while from Stampabilities colored him with colored pencils and glitter pens and put in a couple of extra fishes and some bubbles.  The extra fish and sentiment are from Simon Says.

May 14, 2016 House Plants

I needed a couple of "general" hello - thinking of you type cards and instantly it came to me that I had these images stamped and cut out using AMuse Stamps - when I first saw this stamp set I knew I would use it often - as it is basically gender neutral, pretty, masculine (if you use the the cactus) LOL.
I colored them using some splash color also from AMuse - my water brush and they were ready to go on a card.  Talk about easy.  The first card I used some washi tape (AMuse) and the second one I used a 1/2 doily.  They are already addressed and ready to go in the mail.

May 11, 2016 REPEAT IMPRESSIONS - Use your scraps

GOOD MORNING

Wow - can't believe that it is already the second week of May already - the oak trees in our woods have finally leafed out (thank heaven - so much pollen during this process) the garden is planted and growing nicely, grass is growing to the point that hubby is mowing twice a week.  So I thought this little rabbit was perfect for this weeks challenge which our team mate JOY selected  use your scraps.  I LOVE papers - cs, designer prints, paper pkgs. you name it, I will never in my lifetime run out of papers.  At one time I thought I would "get into" scrapbooking - so bought up a couple (okay more than a couple) of 12 x 12 scrap-booking pads.  I would use a snippet here and there and then have this left over beautiful pattern paper.  So I used  Ode to Spring 2605P  from REPEAT IMPRESSIONS  with the thought that this happy bunny was perfect for spring - and the scraps I had from  leftover 12 x 12 pattern papers.

I stamped him in cocoa memento ink and added some chalk brown to his body.  Colored the flowers with Spica glitter pens in the colors to match my papers.  Love the yippee saying I had in my die cut box and a perfect blue button to finish the card.  I'm sending this out to a chemo buddy that has "graduated" already but just wanted her to know I was still thinking about her.

Hoping you will create a card using our challenge of "use your scaps"  to enter our challenge over at
The House that Stamps Built.

May 9,2016 Elephant Parade and Awesome

One of my bestie's daughter recently had a baby boy - they already had a 2 year sweet girl at home so I made 2 cares to put in the mail.  The first is for Sis - Awesome Big Sis and wrote a little note in the card for her.  The elephant parade is an inspiration from Pam Sparks who works magic with dies.  She had posted this card -   https://expressionswithheart.wordpress.com/2016/04/20/taylornew-dies-felt-and-stitchinged-expressions-/ and yes I totally CASED it - with her permission.  I was shopping last week at my favorite little stamping store in Kimswick Mo. with a dear friend and her sweet Mom (my adopted Mom) and the store had this die, - and only 1 so it went in my basket but I will share.  I had some baby papers with elephants that worked perfect for this card.  I used bakers twine on this card for the tag as I didn't wanted added bulk in my envelope.  Since they are stationed overseas I sent a couple of gifties for the kids, a pair of pictures for the baby's room and aMom and Me cookbook for Big Sis.   Hope they enjoy the gifts and cards.

I made an extra just to have on hand for the next baby card I need and here it is in different print.

May 4, 2016 Repeat Impressions Color Challenge

GOOD MORNING

Can't believe that is is May already - this year is flying by so quickly - but the first Wednesday in May over at The House that Stamps Built is a color challenge - and this month the colors are:

and my card is:

I used Comfy Chair 2628H and the sentiment 410H from the Home collection of stamps.  The sentiment on the outside is from a collection in the Hello cling set.  Now for the sentiment on the inside just lift the top portion of the card which is held in place with a brad.

I have made this style card a few years ago and ran across it in my stack of cards - so I thought this would be perfect for this card.  Colored my chair with prisma colored pencils and OMS, added a bit of gold on the arms with my Sakura jelly roll gold pen.  Ovals are punched/cuttlebug, DP is from my stash, the bling is from Michaels. as well as the pink/green ribbon.

Challenges:  Crafting from the Heart - anything goes
Craft your passion - anything goes
Sir Stamp Alot - anything goes
A Beautiful Mess - anything goes
Shopping our Stash - I used stash of pretty embellishment, scrap of ribbon and a brad which no one seems to use much anymore.

Hoping you will create a card using our photo inspiration to enter our challenge over at
The House that Stamps Built.  You don't have to use Repeat Impressions stamps but if you do you will get an added bonus of an additional entry in the random drawing for a $25 Repeat Impressions gift certificate. May 2, 2016 - Tutorial Make your own stencil

GOOD MORNING

Filling in for a team mate today who asked for someone to take her week and I accepted the challenge without hesitation.  I saw this technique back in Dec. 2014 and after taking a look around Pintrest I discovered it is rather popular now.  Making your own stencil from punches/or dies.

Supplies used:
     Kraft cardstock     black cardstock
Distress Inks in Black Soot, Pumice Stone and Tea Dye
     Large sponge daubers
     Dog paw punch from Reflections
     Postage Stamp scissors
     Asst. Washi tapes
     Black Memento Ink
Repeat Impressions Stamp 8116G Woof Mail

I applied my washi tape first so I would have a starting point for my paw prints.

I masked off the area to stamp with a post it note.

I punched out my paw print - I punched out 3 so I could use one for each color.

I then used my three distress inks to color in my stencil.  Word of caution here is to make sure you don't go off the edge of your cs that you have made into a stencil as you will get some unwanted color. I randomly stenciled my paw prints, some going off the page.

When you are satisfied with your special one of a kind design you can then color

Cut and then finish up your card.

Just let your imagination go and use your punches or dies and make your own one of a kind background for your special card.

May 1, 2016 Acetate..or Vellum

GOOD MORNING

can you believe it is May already - just  few weeks ago a lot of us were experiencing snow, some even  in the last week or two.  Here in southern MO.  the trees are all leafing out, tulips have come and gone, and OH NO the pollen is really heavy.  Spring is the only time I have any problems with allergies.  Today over at House of Cards we are having a challenge of stamping on acetate or vellum

I chose to do my card on acetate - and had forgotten how striking the results were when you stamped. I used Staz-On on my acetate. I stamped the branch and flowers on white card stock added a dot of black with sharpie for my black centers.  On the acetate I use glossy accents to highlight the flower centers stamped my sentiment with Staz-on and held the acetate in place with eyelets.  Who doesn't have a huge collection of eyelets?

So come join us over at House of Cards and post your creation using vellum or acetate.
