April 27,2016 Repeat Impressions Sketch Challenge

GOOD MORNING

Today is the 4th Wednesday of the month and that is "follow the sketch" Wednesday over at
The House that Stamps Built  .  Our sketch to follow is below.

I enjoyed working with this sketch and I needed three Mothers Day cards so I just colored up these beautiful Daffodils 904L from REPEAT IMPRESSIONS . This was my favorite color combination that I watercolored - and again I was pleased with the way they turned out.  I also used the Sentiment 1137E Happy Mothers Day  In fact I liked the sketch so well I made two while I had all of my supplies out - especially since I needed 2 more Mothers Day cards.  One for dear daughter and one for sweet granddaughter who has two little ones.

I stamped the sentiment on vellum and embossed in gold to make it pop just a bit more.  I had some fun May papers in a pack of DCWV that I have had for a long time and thought this fit my Mothers Day theme.  Fussy cut the daffodils and yes even between the leaves.  This one is going out to someone special (I can't mention who) so I hope she is happy with this.  I know she is a very special lady and I think the world of her.

Hoping you will create a card using our photo inspiration to enter our challenge over at
The House that Stamps Built.  You don't have to use Repeat Impressions stamps but if you do you will get an added bonus of an additional entry in the random drawing for a $25 Repeat Impressions gift certificate. HINT - take a peek over on my side bar and you will see a 10% discount on Repeat Impressions stamps.  We would love to see you create something.

Now why not go check out my DT team mates and see what they have created.

April 23, 2016 Tulips Happy Mothers Day

I have a few Mother's Day cards to get out this year and then my dear daughter asked me to make her one for her MIL.  She told me she was tired of sending so much $$$$ on store bought cards and sh really felt that MIL would love a handmade card.  I love this SU tulip - I don't even think it is still available but I have kept it- #1 I love tulips and #2 my daughter loves tulips.  I colored these tulips with my NEW watercolors - (went to Dick Blick's Art Supply) recently.  These watercolors were so easy to work with and I love the shading ability I had when using.  Fussy cut and popped them up on a scrap I had laying on my desk - (the script oval) as well as the beautiful shiny pink which I had run through my cuttlebug.  A few pearls added the softness of the card and this is ready to go in the mailbox to DD.  Yes DD enjoys crafting, stamping, etc. but she is always busy busy.  She gets a lot of my "done with" supplies.

April 20,2016 Photo Inspiration

GOOD MORNING

Today is photo inspiration over at The House that Cards Built - and I truly believe that spring has finally arrived here.  The birds are singing, trees are budding and a lot of the spring flowers are showing their beautiful colors.  Our photo inspiration for this challenge is:

I always called these Easter flowers but I think they are really called daffodils.  Well I choose to use a stamp from REPEAT IMPRESSIONS with a vase of beautiful tulips.

This beautiful stamp from REPEAT IMPRESSIONS is Vase of Flowers 1317-L.  I love to paper piece so I stamped the image on 3 different patterns/solid yellows from AMuse studio.  I then fussy cut them all out (except the leaves) and glued them to the image.  I colored the leaves with copic markers.  I used a Spellbinders scallop oval to mount my vase on and then some yellow/green sheer ribbon behind the oval.

Hoping you will create a card using our photo inspiration to enter our challenge over at
The House that Stamps Built.  You don't have to use Repeat Impressions stamps but if you do you will get an added bonus of an additional entry in the random drawing for a $25 Repeat Impressions gift certificate. April 18, 2016 Monkey

I am a big fan of Gerda Steiner stamps and each month she offers a "free" digi for you to complete and put in her monthly challenge.  This month it was this darling monkey hanging from a limb.  As I do so many chemo angel cards I thought the sentiment Hang in There from Gerda's Happy Fall Set was perfect for this card.  I made a gatefold card - colored the monkey with my copic markers, matted on some brown die cut shapes.  The DP was from a pack of MS papers that I have had forever.  I held the card together with the round "paper clips" that were so popular a long time ago and I still have a lot in my hoarded supplies.  LOL.  A bit of monkey ribbon and this card is ready to go.

April 15, 2016 LawnMower Man

On occasion my hubby asks me to make a "special" card for one of his buddies etc.  This is a Thank You card for one of the guys on his bowling team that always gets the funds together to send flowers when some one has passed, get well cards when someone is in the hospital or ill etc.  So Wayne (aka hubby) thought it would be nice if the league pitched in and got him a gift card for his favorite restaurant.  Now "Tom" has a lawn mowing business to make a little extra so I immediately thought of this image from Art Impressions stamps that my friend Patti  had stamped for me a year or so ago. I colored him with my copic markers, fussy cut him out and made some grass with my AMuse die and stamped Thank You.  Wayne was super happy with this 'creation" and he told me I was so "talented".  Sweet.  Today is the league luncheon so I am going to go and will get to see Tom's expression when he opens his card.

April 13, 2016 WHO LET THE DOGS OUT

GOOD MORNING

I love designer choice weeks here at REPEAT IMPRESSIONS  and this week is:  WHO LET THE DOGS OUT.  Now being a dog owner of 3 Big dogs I loved this challenge.  I chose to use 8101-L
BULLDOG .  I had so much fun creating the scene below.

I showed two views of the card so you could see that I cut the front of the card using AMuse Studio cloud die and I used the same die set to created the hills.  The woodgrain fence is also by AMuse.  I colored the dog with copic markers, fussy cut him out pop dotted him on the "grass".  I loved the end result and I am sure there will be an occasion for me to send out this card.

Go check out our challenge over at THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT  and using the theme of Who Let the Dogs Out enter our challenge.  You will have the opportunity to win a $25 gift certificate and if you use a Repeat Impressions stamp you will have 2 opportunities.  On my side bar you will see a discount of 10% on purchase of Repeat Impressions.  Looking forward to see what you create.

I have some very great team mates - so go see what  they have created using this great theme.

Today is DCC (designer choice) Wednesday and Deanna’s choice is WHO LET THE DOGS OUT.  Now for those of you who know me knows we have 3 “big” dogs – and 1 calico cat, but back to the dogs.  This was perfect for me when I saw the choice.

April 12, 2016 Happy Anniversary

Is this not the cutest set of little chicks, I decided to make an anniversary card using those two darlings from Gerda Stein  Happy Spring.  I have a dear friend hwom I have known for a really long time and their anniversary was April 11, so I think I am safe in posting the card now.  I colored the chicks with Prisma colored pencils and OMS, pattern paper from my stash, hearts from AMuse studio, die cut love, two flowers and some cute pink ribbon with hearts.  Hope they had a Happy Anniversary.

April 11, 2016 Stamping on Fun Foam

GOOD MORNING

This week it is my turn to do my "first tutorial" for REPEAT IMPRESSIONS and
THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT   and I chose "How to Stamp on Fun Foam.  Below is a list of materials I used to start my project:

Repeat Impressions stamps Happy Puppy 8104-I and a Dog loves you 8117-E
Cuttlebug or other die cutting machine and dies
White fun foam - I used 2mm thickness you can find this at almost any craft section of your
     favorite craft store or WalMart.
Dye ink - color of your choice - I used Memento Peanut Brittle
     Heat Gun

I die cut the form I was going to stamp on first - then using your heat gun - heat the fun foam until it becomes shiny - the edges will start to curl up - that is ok.

Immediately stamp your image (no ink) on the fun foam using slightly more pressure than you would normally use when you stamp.  Let image sit on fun foam for a few seconds until the fun foam cools a little.  Remove stamp from fun foam.

Take the dye ink color of your choice and swipe the ink pad over entire image and die cut form.  The more you swipe the darker it becomes.  Now - the hard part - set aside and let the ink dry complete before you continue to use it on your completed project.

I used some stronger tape vs. sticky runner on the back of the fun foam for mounting my image on my DP - just to hold it a bit better.  Complete your card as you wish.  As you can see I added some small eyes from Crackerbox - and I think this puppy looks almost real.

Have fun with this technique - you can use colored fun foam - different color inks, or a dazzle versa mark for some added interest.  I tried using the self adhesive fun foam and word of caution it did not work the backing came off when I used the heat gun.

April 8, 2016 Thinking of You

Saw this technique on a SU blogger that I follow and she called it dragging ink.  She used SU inks but I don't have any from SU so I used dye inks from Memento and I do like the end result.  I already have an idea in mind for more cards using this technique.  You literally drag the ink pad across the white cardstock.  EZ-PZ.  Used a SU set that I love and go to often, and DP from my stash.  This one is already en route to a Chemo patient that needed a little lift.

April 6, 2016 REPEAT IMPRESSIONS Color Challenge

FUN FUN
COLOR CHALLENGE

Today is our color challenge over at THE HOUSE THAT STAMPS BUILT and below are the colors:

and this is the stamps I choose to use.  When I saw Underpants Frog and the complementing sentiment to go with it I knew I had to have it.   I was needing a "funny" card for a friend who is a bit down and I thought this one would be great.

Since the sentiment would not fit on the outside I used stamps from a new series Hello Cling
which includes a variety of Hello, hi, and combinations which is a very versatile set to have.
I used it in a bubble punch I have had for a while and it worked perfect.  Now as a lot of you may know I like bling so some purple and green pearls finished off the scallops at the bottom.  (I know extra postage and a bubble envelope) but ....Colored with copic markers, DP from my stash and pearls from Michaels.

We would love to have you join us at The House that Stamps Built for this weeks color challenge, you don't have to use Repeat Impressions stamps but if you do you double your chances of winning a $25 gift certificate to shop at Repeat Impressions plus if you look on on my side bar you will see at 10% that you can use for shopping.

Why not take a look at some beautiful/fun creations my team mates have made:

April 5, 2016 Spring Boots

I have had this set from Penny Black for a while - okay more than a while say like 2-3 years and I love the set but...just never introduced it to ink.  When I saw the sketch for sketch Saturday this week I decided to use their sketch and this image.  I colored it with colored pencils and OMS - the flowers were done with glittered gel pens, two rows of washi tape on each side and some silk flowers.

Challengles:  Sprketch Saturday - follow sketch

April 4, 2016 Sailboat

This beautiful card is for my SIL for his birthday - (he loves getting cards from his "sweet" MIL)!!!
I have a great friend who sent me the cut pieces of this card and I put it together.  She had made a couple and I fell in love with them.  With a little bribing (just kidding) she sent me enough pieces to make a couple of cards.  this is perfect for dear SIL - they live very close to Lake Michigan and I think he will appreciate the creativity of his card.  Wish I could remember the maker of the stamps/dies but it has totally slipped my mind.  Enjoy.

April 3, 2016 Life

I spent the day with my friend Patti a week ago - and we stamped up some Unity images.  This image was hers but I loved the saying so I stamped up a couple.  I used my sizzix die to cut out the image, then mask off different areas and sponged with 4 shades of Tim Holtz distress ink.  I had a couple of "OOPS" so out with the sequin box to cover up those minor pesky spots.  Colored in the flowers with my glitter pen.  Mixed two patterns from some scraps I had in my scrap basket and this card is ready to go.   EZ-PZ.

April 1, 2016 HOUSE OF CARDS COLOR/SCRIPT CHALLENGE

GOOD MORNING

This month over at House of Cards we have a color/script challenge - and I choose to do the script challenge. Below is my script creation using script background.

I have used this technique (if you want to call it a technique) before and love the results.  This is a very simple card but does pack a punch.  I stamped the script background stamp first with Distress inks, then lightly brushed pearl-x powder over the script.  Gives it a beautiful shimmer which you can't really see in the photo.  Next keeping with the monochromatic theme I stamped my floral image using Memento ink, then the sentiment, and finally the butterfly.  Had to add a little bling so added some pink jewels and tied a two tone ribbon , mounted on strip cs, then on a solid pink.
Come join us at HOUSE OF CARDS challenge this month.  CHALLENGES
