For our challenge this week out designer Rock Star Esther asked us to "Try a New Technique". What fun. I spend a few (ok more than a few) minutes on Pinterest and found one that looked like fun, and it was. I chose to do the rubber band technique - which you can either do on an acrylic or your brayer using different width rubber bands. Here is what I came up with.
I used a K Pad for my ink source in pastels, I took my roller off my brayer and wrapped - 4 different size width rubber bands around my roller, reattached and inked up the brayer with inks, then going in one direction only I went across my focal image. Was it fun YES. I'm thinking some Christmas cards using this technique. I put gold glitter strips on each side of my rubberband focal image and then choose 5125-C Dragonfly Sil. small in different colors to match my focal center. I stamped this image on both sides. Then I was needing a Birthday card for a friend and used 6104-J Birthday Vertical. I scattered some small colored sequins here and there and card was complete - quick and easy.

Pinterest is where I got for inspiration as well! What a super CUTE card and FUN technique! I love your take on my "try a new technique" challenge!
I forgot about this technique - how fun! Great card Shirley. I hope your Cinderella chores go quickly today! =)
Cute card, and fun technique! I remember when you taught me how to do this years ago! Love it!
Your technique turned out so cool Shirley!! I just love how you were able to get all of those different rainbow colors on there! I haven't done this in a long time! Thanks for the inspiration friend! HUGS
This turned out fabulous Shirley, I like how you coordinated the butterflies to the rubber band colors! Nice mini tutorial too!
You chose such pretty colors for your "rubber band" image. The lines from the rubber bands almost look like they could be the trails left behind by the dragonflies. I've heard of this technique before, but never tried it. I've got a brayer and rubber bands, so there's no excuse not to give it a go!
This is so fun!! I've never tried this technique, but it looks awesome! Love the colors you used and the bit of sparkle from the gold paper!
Fantastic card Shirley. I have never heard of the rubber band technique..Loz
