August 7, 2017 Try New Technique Challenge

It is August - the other night on one of the late night comedy show - they did a skit on "can you believe it is August".  It was really funny and a lot of people say it - Can it really be August.
For our challenge this week out designer Rock Star Esther asked us to "Try a New Technique".  What fun.  I spend a few (ok more than a few) minutes on Pinterest and found one that looked like fun, and it was.  I chose to do the rubber band technique - which you can either do on an acrylic or your brayer using different width rubber bands.  Here is what I came up with.

I used a K Pad for my ink source in pastels, I took my roller off my brayer and wrapped - 4 different size width rubber bands around my roller, reattached and inked up the brayer with inks, then going in one direction only I went across my focal image.  Was it fun YES.  I'm thinking some Christmas cards using this technique.  I put gold glitter strips on each side of my rubberband focal image and then choose 5125-C Dragonfly Sil. small in different colors to match my focal center.  I stamped this image on both sides.  Then I was needing a Birthday card for a friend and used 6104-J Birthday Vertical.  I scattered some small colored sequins here and there and card was complete -  quick and easy.

This turned out fabulous Shirley, I like how you coordinated the butterflies to the rubber band colors! Nice mini tutorial too!

You chose such pretty colors for your "rubber band" image. The lines from the rubber bands almost look like they could be the trails left behind by the dragonflies. I've heard of this technique before, but never tried it. I've got a brayer and rubber bands, so there's no excuse not to give it a go!
