August Blog Hop

These are the cards I came up with for the August blog hop. The Spunky Sprite Girls are one of my favorites and fun to color. I used Mias Cottage to paper piece her dress andCopic markers to color her face and hair. We received the Square Owl set at Seminar and I just drew a blank so I challanged myself to come up with something using this set. I have to give credit to Ellie for the Be Square idea, I changed it around a bit but I think it turned out cute. The witches hat fit perfect on the next owl and I used my Stamp-aligner to place the hat on the owl. Green and orange are Halloween colors that went well with her, as well as the label lingo saying. Now for the fun - hop on over to see the rest of the creative angels in this blog hop.

Nuts about You

Today is our 18th anniversary and I fell in love with this little squirrel, I made it a girl squirrel with pink cheeks and blue eyes (like me). Wayne loves to watch the squirrels play outside our window in our family room. We live "in the woods" so there is an abundance of these little critters. We are going to go see Time Travelers Wife this afternoon and then bar-b-que after we get home. He says he always looks forward to my homemade cards to him, how sweet. Remember tonight is our August blog hop with new sets from the TAC catalog.

Birthday Card

Yesterday I received a BEAUTIFUL birthday card from one of my BFFs Donna T. whom I have know for 25+ years. We met when we worked at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, we were both "new" nurses and we just clicked. The friendship has grown through out the years separated by a little distance as I moved 80 miles south of St. Louis but we still keep in touch and manage to see each other as often as possible. She is my first downline angel so we have seen a lot in the lst 7-8 years with changes in TAC. Anyway isn't her birthday card to me - beautiful - she double embossed with cuttlebug and inked with 2 different shades of blue. I think the brown and blue go together very well. I just had to share with everyone who visits my blog.

Punched Window

It is a HOT day in Missouri - our thermometer says it is 95 so the coolest place in the house is my woman cave - hence the card making frenzy. I also have been working on some cards for our August Paper Wings "blog hop" scheduled for August 19, but can't share those just yet. Although this is not a new technique to me - (I first learned about it at Madison Mingle in 2008) Technique Junkie featured it as one of the techniques for Aug/Sept. Newsletter. I used "retired" DP Gentle Beginnings, and a much loved retired set Paisley Rocks both from The Angel Company. I had to add a little bling in my flower centers as I love bling. Fun technique and we have some new sets in the new Inspiration Book that I want to try with this technique.

Coloring cupcakes

I am in a stamp club that meets monthly and this month the group asked me to "teach" them how to color with colored pencils and mineral spirits. I thought the cupcakes were a great image to play with coloring so I used the two sets TAC has and here are some samples I made up. Tell me what you think???

True Beauty

I made this card for the wife of one of my Chemo Angels patient that passed away last week. I am enclosing the book with the card as I thought she might find some comfort in the verses, pictures, and inspirations in the book. I knew when I got this patient the prognosis was poor but his wife kept in touch with me and told me he looked forward to my cards and notes of hope and encouragement every week. I am so glad I was able to play a small part in his journey.

This is a quick card I made for dear granddaughter (she is 7). She sent Grandpa a ballon arrangement while he was in the hospital so made this card and enclosed a picture of the arrangement in with the card. Love these mice, colored with Copic markers, cool grays, used our downloaded paper (LOVE THEM) and a new punch from EK Success. The punch reminded me of holes in cheese - okay my imagination is vivid!!
My MoJo has not been flowing lately with DH in the hospital. He is now home but again not without problems, he developed cellulitis (skin inflammation) in the arm where his IV infusion was placed. So we are treating with big gun antibiotics and saying a lot of prayers. All of this because of a kidney stone!!!

Friends

This is a fun card I made for a girl at work that just had surgery and she didn't want anyone to know - well you know how word gets out so I am sending a Hello card vs. a get well card. I used Friends set from the April bonus sets, Lilly Anna papers, scrappers floss and clear button. I "cased" the coloring the bird from Rita Kegg and colored with H20 crayons. I love to color with any medium and haven't used these crayons in a long time. The fun part of this card is the embossed clear button, I held the clear button with tweezers in the holes, inked the heart stamp in this set with versamark and pressed my button on the image I wanted to emboss, I then dipped the button in white embossing powder and heat set the powder. Tied scrappers floss and easy peasy button to match.

Happy Trails

Here is a card that I made a couple of weeks ago for one of my homebound patients. She is a horse lover so I thought this card would be perfect for her. I was happy to see that this stamp set was not on the discontinued list. This card did require a little extra postage to mail as I used "rope" around the top but it just finished the card perfectly. Going to be a fun day, going to take a class at a local scrapbook store O'Dear What a Memory with my BFF. The class is "Inchies" so I will post our finished creations. Just a quick update on DH, he had surgery again on April 16, and this time they successfully removed the impacted kidney stone. They left a stint in which is causing him great discomfort but that too will be removed on April 23. We are on the downhill slide of this "health experience".

Special Delivery

The pastel colors don't show off very well in the scanned card but IRL it is very soft. I receive Technique Junkie every other month and I always like to try at least one of the featured techniques so this month it was the chalk lines. I used our new Special Delivery set from the Serendipity , greens and yellows chalks, colored with prisma pencils and OMS and a little bit of sparkle Stickles to the stork. May every one have a Happy Easter.

Playful Kitties

This is a card I am getting ready to send to a friend this morning and she is a kitty lover just like me - well okay my dog is a real close second. I colored the kitty with Prisma pencils and OMS, (I just love to color). Hope my friend enjoys this card as much as I had fun making it. Quick update on DH - last pm was slightly improved from the night before. Nights are the worst for him but it helps if he take 2 pain pills before he goes to bed. It is going to be a BEAUTFUL day in Mo. so my goal is to get him and the Bella dog out for a walk this afternoon.

Beautiful Day

This is another "wedding-anniversary" card I made with this new set in our Serendipity. This set can be used is so many different ways. I am a Chemo Card angel and my little guy and his wife have an anniversary coming up April 5, married 49 years so I thought this card would be so appropriate for them. I paperpieced the birds, used nestabilities label 1 image and layered with pop dot.A couple of tiny flowers, ribbon and done. Hope they enjoy their anniversary. Going to take DH to St. Louis today to a specialist, he was in the hospital locally for 2 days with a kidney stone and he has yet to pass it, one of the drawbacks of living in a smaller town is no specialists so I brought him home from the hospital last night (with plenty of pain meds on board) and we go to the doctor todasy at 1 pm. I have taken care of a lot of patients with kidney stones and I know they are very painful and even more so when it is your spouse. He doesn't make a real good patient and I "quit" being a nurse when it comes to family. Like what do I know!!!

Thanks

The theme for this weeks tac-art-scan yahoo group was thank you cards. For this card I embossed the flowers on ivory with versamark and white embossing powder. I then used a sponge dauber (the kind that fits on your pointer finger) and used dye ink pad to pick up the color and color the flower, then cut out, pop dot the flowers on the paper. I used the new Graphic Blooms and Playful Parenthesis sets in our Serendipity magalog. Paper collection is from Genevieve made by TAC. You can use this technique with any open area stamp set that you can color in with ink, but this sets works perfect.
The bottom edge was slightly torn then rolled down to give a distressed look.

Paper Dolls

We have a stamp group called The Paper Dolls and meet monthly at our senior center. I received this card from one of my Paper Doll friends which I just had to post. She had fabric with the paperdolls on it, she ironed wonder under on the back side then cut each individual image out. I called her to thank her and she said mine was 1 of a kind and she wouldn't be sending the entire group the same card!! She did use the corner image from Want to Fly in our new Serendipity. The card brought back images of my childhood and cutting out all those paperdolls we used to be able to get.

Dear Friend

This is a card for one of the girls I work with, her daughter was in a pretty bad car accident Thursday and is still in the ICU. Thought I would send this to her to let her know I was thinking of her. I have another friend whose daughter also had a car accident on Friday but she was not badly injured so off to make a card for her too. This set is one of my favs from the new Serendipity, she is just so darned cute and fun to color. I colored with Copic markers, still working on shading but I love to color.

Wedding Planners

Here is the 2nd of the wedding planners we made today. They are just a little different. My granddaughter Paige colored her bride and Laci left hers black/white. Colors are different but otherwise very similar.

Wedding Planner

Project for the Day - dear granddaughter and her roommate are on spring break from nursing school so they came and spent 2 days at Grandma's house - (what an honor for me). They are both engaged and were looking through Just Weddings and found a wedding planner that they loved. Off to Walmart FOR A 1" binder and sleeve protectors and down to the studio they went. On the front they used Growing Love bride and Bitty Blossoms on the front. They labeled each page and stamped asst. items depicting the occasion such as the service, music, flowers etc. In person they turned out really cute and they were both so proud of their books. But I am exhausted!!! I was having trouble posting both pics in one post so I will put the other next.

Some Bunny

Needed a quick card for a sister angel that just had oral surgery and thought this bunny might put a smile on her face. This bunny is from our new set Some Bunny and when I saw them I knew they had to go in my collection. I paper pieced her dress and the label is from the Bella Flor collection which has been de'd, it was a beautiful collection so it will be missed. Colored the bunny with copic markers (still in my learning curve). Did a little scor-pal border and card complete.

Big Brother

I usually try and send a "special" card to big brother or big sister especially when this is a first addition for them. I made the brother card to coordinate with the gift card I made for the new baby which will also be a boy. I have a sticker boook and stickers to include in big brothers envelope to make him feel special too. I took a copic marker class this past weekend so I am having so much fun playing with colors and trying to blend my colors. I think this goes back to my childhood as I loved to color as a kid, especially with a new box of crayolas. The class was very helpful and of course I had to "pick up" a few more colors after the class.
